Claude Fable 5: What It Costs on Each Plan
Anthropic's most capable model returned on July 1, 2026 and is available inside Cowork, Claude.ai, and Claude Code. Its billing works differently from every other model — here is how it breaks down.
Included through July 12, 2026
Pro, Max, Team, and select Enterprise plans include Fable 5 for up to 50% of weekly usage limits. Anthropic extended this window from the original July 7 cutoff.
Usage credits after the window
From July 13, Fable 5 sessions draw from a prepaid usage-credit balance instead of plan limits. Enable credits in your Claude account settings to keep access.
$10 / $50 per million tokens
Input costs $10 and output $50 per million tokens — double Opus 4.8. Long Cowork sessions on Fable 5 can consume credits quickly, so watch your balance.
Opus 4.8 remains the default
Fable 5 is opt-in from the model picker. Day-to-day Cowork tasks still run on Opus 4.8 at no extra metered cost within your plan limits.
