Cowork Everywhere — Claude Cowork Expands to Web and Mobile with Remote Sessions

Cowork breaks out of the desktop app. Starting July 7 it is reachable from claude.ai on the web and from the sidebar of the Claude app on iOS and Android, rolling out to Max subscribers first. Sessions now run remotely in beta — saved to your Claude account, they continue when your laptop is closed and follow you across devices. Chat and Cowork also get a unified interface: one place for projects and artifacts across both.

  • + Web access at claude.ai and mobile access from the Claude app sidebar (iOS and Android) — no separate app
  • + Remote sessions (beta): start a task at your desk, check status on your phone, pick up the output later — work continues with the laptop closed, and scheduled tasks run with no device online
  • + Unified Chat + Cowork interface — one place for your projects and artifacts across both
  • + Rolling out over several weeks starting with the Max plan; more plans to follow
  • + Doubled Cowork usage limits extended through August 5 as part of the expansion

Fable 5 Returns — Fable 5 Is Back: Export Controls Lifted, Included on Paid Plans Through July 12

Three weeks after the June 12 suspension, the US government lifted export controls on Fable 5 and Mythos 5 on June 30, and Anthropic redeployed both models globally on July 1 — across the Claude Platform, Claude.ai, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. The redeployment ships with a new safety classifier that blocks the flagged jailbreak in over 99% of cases, rerouting those requests to Opus 4.8. Paid plans get Fable 5 included for a limited window before it moves to usage credits.

  • + Export controls lifted June 30; Fable 5 and Mythos 5 restored July 1 for users globally, including inside Claude Cowork
  • + New safety classifier blocks the flagged jailbreak in over 99% of cases and reroutes those requests to Opus 4.8
  • + Pro, Max, Team, and select Enterprise plans include Fable 5 for up to 50% of weekly usage limits — extended through July 12 after backlash over the original July 7 cutoff
  • + After July 12: prepaid usage credits at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens (double Opus 4.8)
  • + Opus 4.8 remains the default model; Fable 5 is opt-in from the model picker

Security Hardening — Safer Defaults in Claude Code, Plus Workload Identity Federation

Mid-June brought a wave of security hardening. Claude Code now blocks destructive git and infrastructure commands in auto mode unless you explicitly ask for them, and auto mode reaches third-party model providers. Separately, Workload Identity Federation replaces static API keys with short-lived, scoped credentials on the Claude Platform.

  • + Claude Code (June 19): destructive git commands are blocked when you didn't ask to discard work — git reset --hard, git checkout -- ., git clean -fd, git stash drop — and git commit --amend is guarded for commits the agent didn't make this session
  • + terraform destroy, pulumi destroy, and cdk destroy are blocked unless you named the specific stack
  • + Auto mode now runs on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry (Opus 4.7 and 4.8), with background safety checks instead of permission prompts
  • + Workload Identity Federation (June 17, GA): no static API keys to rotate or leak — workloads use AWS IAM, GCP / Kubernetes, Azure, GitHub Actions, Okta, or other OIDC identities to receive short-lived credentials
  • + WIF runs alongside API keys, so you can migrate one workload at a time, and every request is logged to its service account

Code Artifacts — Claude Code Artifacts: Turn Coding Sessions into Live, Shareable Pages

Claude Code can now publish its work as an artifact — a live web page at a private URL that refreshes in place as the session runs. Think PR walkthroughs, incident investigations, dashboards, and release checklists, built from the full context of your codebase, connectors, and conversation. In beta for Claude Team and Enterprise orgs.

  • + Live pages that update in place — teammates see changes the moment they're published
  • + Built from full session context: your codebase, your connectors, and the conversation itself
  • + Version history — every publish is a new version at the same link, restore anytime, with a gallery to browse them all
  • + Private by default — viewable only by authenticated members of your org, never public; admins control access and retention
  • + In beta from the Claude Code CLI and desktop app; pages open in any browser (Team and Enterprise)

Connectors — Connectors Get Enterprise-Managed Access, Mobile, and a Developer Dashboard

Three updates land for connectors. IT admins can now provision MCP connectors once through their identity provider and push zero-touch access to every employee on first login. Connectors come to mobile in beta, and a new observability dashboard gives connector developers adoption and health metrics across Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork.

  • + Enterprise-Managed Authorization (June 18) — set up once via Okta; employees inherit approved connectors on first login, with no per-app OAuth prompts
  • + Live at launch: Asana, Atlassian, Canva, Figma, Granola, Linear, and Supabase (Slack in progress), across Claude chat, Claude Code, and Cowork
  • + Mobile connectors (beta) — interactive apps render right in the conversation; Desktop and web remain the primary path for custom connectors
  • + Connector observability dashboard (June 8) — track active users, tool calls, directory rank, error rates, and latency, broken down by product

Claude Design — Claude Design Adds Canvas Editing and Two-Way Claude Code Sync

Claude Design gets a major update: direct on-canvas editing, design systems imported from GitHub, and two-way sync with Claude Code. Run /design-sync to pull your design system into your repo or push work back into Claude Design — or type /design in the terminal to open a live canvas without leaving Claude Code. In beta on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise.

  • + On-canvas editing — drag, resize, and align every element with fine-grained layout controls
  • + Two-way Claude Code sync: /design-sync moves your design system between repo and canvas; /design opens a live canvas inside Claude Code
  • + Bring your design system from GitHub repos, design files, or image uploads; a new admin role locks approved components so outputs stay on brand
  • + New home in the Claude desktop sidebar (also at claude.ai/design)
  • + Export to PDF and PowerPoint, or send to Adobe, Base44, Canva, Gamma, Lovable, Miro, Replit, Vercel, and Wix

Billing Update — Proposed June 15 Billing Split for Programmatic Usage — Paused

Anthropic had proposed moving programmatic usage — the Agent SDK, claude -p, Claude Code GitHub Actions, and third-party apps — off subscription limits and into a separate monthly credit pool billed at API rates, starting June 15. The change was paused before it took effect: programmatic usage still draws from your plan as before. Interactive use — claude.ai, Claude Code in the terminal, and Claude Cowork — was never affected and is unchanged.

  • + What was proposed (June 15): a separate monthly credit for Agent SDK / claude -p / GitHub Actions / third-party apps — Pro $20, Max 5× $100, Max 20× $200 — billed at API rates
  • + Paused before taking effect — there is no credit to claim, and programmatic usage still counts against your subscription as before
  • + Interactive use was never affected: claude.ai, Claude Code in the terminal, and Claude Cowork stay exactly as they are
  • + Anthropic says it will give advance notice before any revised plan

Fable 5 — Fable 5 Launches, Then Pauses Under a US Export-Control Order

Anthropic released Claude Fable 5 on June 9 — its most capable widely released model, with always-on adaptive thinking, a 1M-token context window, and 128K output tokens. Three days later, on June 12, a US government export-control directive required Anthropic to suspend access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all foreign nationals; to comply, Anthropic disabled both models for all customers. Other Claude models are unaffected.

  • + Fable 5 (June 9) — always-on adaptive thinking, 1M-token context, 128K output, state-of-the-art on nearly all tested benchmarks
  • + June 12: a US export-control directive ordered access suspended for any foreign national, inside or outside the US
  • + To comply, Anthropic disabled Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all customers, and publicly disagreed with the order's scope
  • + All other Anthropic models remain available and unaffected

Opus 4.8 — Claude Opus 4.8 Released — Dynamic Workflows and a More Honest Model

Anthropic releases Claude Opus 4.8, its most capable model yet — at the same price as 4.7. It posts the strongest computer-use and browser-agent results Anthropic has tested and is noticeably more honest about the limits of its own work, while Claude Code gains Dynamic Workflows for tackling very large-scale problems.

  • + Dynamic Workflows in Claude Code — orchestrate very large-scale problems across many coordinated steps
  • + Fast mode runs at roughly 2.5× the speed and costs 3× less than on previous models
  • + More honest — about 4× less likely than Opus 4.7 to let flaws in its own code go unflagged, and quicker to admit when it lacks the information to answer
  • + Strongest computer-use and browser-agent model Anthropic has tested — 84% on Online-Mind2Web, ahead of GPT-5.5
  • + Same price as Opus 4.7; available on claude.ai, the Claude API, and Claude Code

Self-Hosted Sandboxes — Managed Agents Gain Self-Hosted Sandboxes and Private MCP Tunnels

Claude Managed Agents can now run tool execution on infrastructure you control, while Anthropic keeps the agent loop — orchestration, context management, and error recovery. Self-hosted sandboxes enter public beta, and new MCP tunnels let agents reach private network services through an outbound-only, end-to-end encrypted gateway.

  • + Self-hosted sandboxes (public beta) — the agent's filesystem, processes, and network egress stay in your environment
  • + Pick your sandbox provider: Cloudflare, Daytona, Modal, or Vercel
  • + MCP tunnels (research preview) — connect agents to private MCP servers with outbound-only, end-to-end encrypted traffic
  • + Anthropic runs orchestration; you keep compute, network policy, audit logging, and MCP connections
